I have setup unbound on an Ubuntu 20.04 server in my home network. I am primarily using it to cache dns request and forward to cloudflare (1.1.1.1). Everything works fine except requests from the server on which it is installed. A simple dig www.google.com gives me reply from unexpected source: 127.0.0.1#53, expected 127.0.0.53#53 My /etc/unbound/unbound.conf … Read More “unbound not resolving queries from localhost” »

We have a third party app that we are setting up and the vendor wants us to create a new subdomain for the address abc.example.com that points to 4 specific nameservers. I attempted to make a CNAME for the domain and realized this would not work as there would be duplicates. I reached out to … Read More “map subdomain to different NS on Network Solutions” »

Storing new linket-type data as DNS data

I had posted an article about a way to extend domains and DNS to handle mobile phones and to allow for Unicode brands. In reponse to questions, I added this article describing how the (new) linket might be stored as domain-type data, in a backward compatibility mode. https://medium.com/@wesboudville/retrofitting-linkets-with-dns-7e109a9ef1d8 https://preview.redd.it/r3tsmy1wkgc51.jpg?width=371&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=55d96f9685b755a76bcaa15471d05607b85dc23b submitted by /u/Wes_Boudville [link] [comments] … Read More “Storing new linket-type data as DNS data” »

Hey everyone, I have my own DNS, using bind [named] server over CentOS. Everything is working fine, but I have this stupid concern. I’m on Android. Cloudfare app helps in unblocking porn sites but if I don’t use the app but rather change the dns in settings then the sites are not unblocked. Any help?

For more information I used 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com in the private dns provider hostname section. I also used Magisk modules like Dns Switcher and CloudfareDNS4magisk. On Dnsleaktest.com it shows that my isp is Cloudfare. And my internet provider is Jio, India. Which blocks porn sites. submitted by /u/Dasumit [link] [comments] Powered by WPeMatico
