I’ve set up a Windows domain at home to mess around with and I’m trying to get Reverse lookups working. The DC is the authoritative server for the domain and forwards to the DNS server running on my router. Every asset in the domain has a static IP and the DC is set as the … Read More “Windows AD DNS Reverse Zone PTR Update Fail?” »

I just upgraded to BIND 9.16 from the 9.11 default on Ubuntu 18.04. I am using it for authoritative and recursive servers. Does anyone have pointers to great resources for properly configuring DNSSEC that are suitable for BIND 9.16 and it’s new DNSSEC (policy) features? A search shows a lot of material out there that … Read More “Looking for resources for configuring DNSSEC properly on BIND 9.16” »

Hi, sorry if this is the wrong subreddit to ask this question. I know nothing about website hosting. I have a personal website that I host through Namecheap’s shared hosting service. I can host multiple domains using that service. I’m also planning to create a website on a separate domain that will not be publicly … Read More “Keeping a website anonymous?” »

Hi, I’m looking forward to register a domain with .so as TLD. Why I’m looking for .so instead of .com is due to the reason that I could make it pretty much look like the website’s name. It says here on the Wikipedia link that .so doesn’t provide IDN and DNSSEC. When I searched I … Read More “Is .so TLD worth it?” »

If anyone can help me out. I have nine internal Active Directory integrated DNS servers in my domain. When one does a nslookup on the domain name they get back all nine IP addresses. What tool can I use to measure the latency of DNS resolve requests?

What tool on *NIX or OSX is there to measure LATENCY OF DNS RESOLUTION REQUESTS. Not just pull A records, not ping, not traceroute. I want to know how fast certain servers return the resolved address from a domain name query. On a related note, why the fuck isn’t this an obvious feature in any … Read More “What tool can I use to measure the latency of DNS resolve requests?” »

The resources where the records point to have all been moved to GCP and is already working as is. Next step is to move the records to … Read More “Migrating domains registered in R53 (with existing records) to domains.google.com and Cloud DNS” »
