Hi, just a quick clarification. I correctly setup and tested an internal unbound server supporting both plain old DNS and DoT. How can i advertise this capability to clients, applications and such? DHCP or radvs come to mind but after a brief google search i found out there’s no official support for this (yet). But … Read More “Clarification – DoT and clients” »

Anyone know about this? I started using it to block porn, but now I have run into a problem, I use LBRY desktop app, and I finally wanted to make an account, so I could comment on videos, but the email confirmation goes to lbry.tv, and OpenDNS blocks it cause it says it has pornography, … Read More “OpenDNS Family Shield” »

DNSSEC and Split DNS?

Posted on 01/24/2021 By firstdns

This seems to be a pretty basic question, but I find very few real life answers to it on the Internet, so let me try here. We’re in a pretty typical enterprise, with company.com as our domain. The Internet-facing (public) DNS infrastructure is completely decoupled from the internal Active Directory one, but both are company.com. … Read More “DNSSEC and Split DNS?” »

Extremely noob question about DNS addresses

Hello, this will definitely make the most “expert” ones on the topic cringe a little but ive always been fascinated by both coding and informatic/tech in general, and recently ive been trying to make my extremely average fiber internet perform better, (100mb/download 18/upload), more specifically changing a few router options and, here we are, DNS. … Read More “Extremely noob question about DNS addresses” »

self refreshing caching server?

Wondering if a caching server exists that would cache queries up to the defined TTL but then also re-query an expiring record itself (perhaps subject to how long the TTL is, whether the record is re-requested etc) to keep the result cached and fresh. submitted by /u/t5999 [link] [comments] Powered by WPeMatico

I am unsure if this is the right place to ask this but I am having some problems with setting up my socks 5 proxy for complete anonymity. NSD vs PowerDNS vs other for lowest latency load balancing

I’m setting up a master-slave bare metal web server combo. Two separate data centers. In lieu of an Anycast setup, I will use self-hosted DNS with geo-based load balancing and failover. All authoritative DNS requests go to the master server, which unloads some traffic onto the slave based on the client’s location. Slave also acts … Read More “NSD vs PowerDNS vs other for lowest latency load balancing” »

NextDNS alternatives for security features?

Not sure if this is the right sub, but.. Are there any other services like NextDNS who offer security protecting like Typosquatting, DNS Rebinding, Cryptojacking, DGA protection etc? I see Cloudflare Sec(1.1.1.2) and Quad9, but as far as I read, they are mostly about malware domains, and less of DNS protection. Any suggestions please? submitted … Read More “NextDNS alternatives for security features?” »
