Hello. I’m in the process of cleaning up a domain’s DNS records. Over the years, old records have piled up. CNAMEs to sites and services that no longer exist. Various TXT records for old DKIM, SPF, and domain ownership verifications for services we no longer use. That kinda stuff. Trying to figure out what records … Read More “Is a Wildcard A Record required?” »

I run a Tor exit node and have Unbound serving DNS recursively (no upstream forwarder) for additional privacy of users. I’m currently hitting around 3 million DNS queries per day, and the server is well within spec. Current load averages are 1.33, 1.28, 1.18 on a quad core system. However, Unbound is claiming a fair … Read More “Recursive resolver for >3 million public queries per day?” »

With secure DNS becoming more common place, what is the solution when you’re in an isolated environment (e.g. airplane wifi) that relies on local DNS resolution for the captive portal to function? Specifically if the endpoint can’t get out to the DoH/DoT service. For example, getconnected.southwestwifi.com resolves to 192.168.35.1 inside the plane, but on the … Read More “DoH/DoT on an airplane” »

I added “dnssec=validate” to recursor.conf but when I query against the resolver I don’t see the ad flag in the response. Are there any other changes I should be making? submitted by /u/jeansakai [link] [comments] Powered by WPeMatico
