Has anyone ever had an issue with applying an update-policy using a TSIG key against a zone and not having servers able to update DNS records upon a failover of the server from one to another? I have SQL servers that failover from one to another automatically when needed. During this process it needs to … Read More “Help with updates” »

Hello! TL;DR who currently owns the NS for Stabletransit? I am assisting a client of mine where we are trying to get DNS Zone records for him. He thought that we control the DNS, but we do not. whois.com says GoDaddy controls the DNS with the Nameservers being ns.rackspace.com ns2.rackspace.com However, I spoke to … Read More “Would the wizards of this subreddit assist in finding some Nameserver owners?” »

Hi DNS wizards, I’ve created a simulated version of the Internet with many backbone routers, a few ISPs, and a few customer networks. This part is all working great. I’ve added a DNS server on the simulated Internet at 8.8.8.8. I want the server to do something very non-standard: Accept any DNS query for any … Read More “DNS server for simulating the Internet” »

We use Men&Mice currently for entry-level IPv4 troubleshooting- just conflicts, resolution problems, etc. The desktop application appears to have a lot of functionality that we don’t use. I tried to find training on the vendor’s website but the button doesn’t do anything. When I Google search, other than a bunch of links back to that … Read More “Men&Mice Worth Learning?” »

My setup is a DNS bind server running on Rocky Linux at 192.1.1.9 that forwards to a pihole server at 192.1.1.10. This configuration is working fine except it cannot correctly resolve comcast.net or filezilla-project.org. When requested through bind, it returns SERVFAIL When requested through pihole it resolves correctly. I have verified that when requesting through … Read More “DNS lookup problem for two websites only (comcast.net, filezilla-project.org)” »
