We have a website hosted with bluehost who is both the registrar and nameservers. Email is hosted separately on mxroute. Multiple times last week we had no nameservers reported for the domain. Planning on pulling at least the nameservers off bluehost. But my question is how can I tell if the issue was the nameservers … Read More “Nameserver or registrar issue?” »

Looking at a list of domains that use DNS host MelbourneIT for DNS e.g. ns1.melbourneit.net it appears they don’t support EDNS or TCP which causes issues for any responses > 512 bytes. e.g. nata.com.au ravensdown.co.nz and copyright.com.au have TXT records > 512 and ns1.melbourneit.net does not respond = query results here versus those with TXT … Read More “MelbourneIT don’t support EDNS0 or TCP for DNS” »

I just looked at my Dnscrypt-proxy logs, and I see several instances of my Debian machine trying to resolve its own hostname, resulting in an nxdomain response. I’m assuming that this means that I’ve configured something improperly, but I don’t know where to start troubleshooting here. I’ve already verified that the hostname is correctly mapped … Read More “What might cause a Debian machine to attempt to resolve its own hostname over DNS?” »
