Using local host file to test some endpoints with private IP addresses. I know DIG and NSlookup don’t respect /etc/hosts changes but if I ping my.endpoint.azure.com it returns the private IP addresses from the host file. My question is that ping (and the private ip address in the response) “proof” that the machine is resolving … Read More “Confirming DNS resolution to specific IPs on windows with /etc/hosts” »

I have a client who stated he purchased a .CO domain years ago. He stated it was a one time purchase to own the domain in perpetuity. He’s not 100% certain where he purchased the Domain from but is looking around his inboxes to find some information. What’s interesting to me, is when I … Read More “.CO Registration Information Missing” »

MC has provided domains that include a sub domain value … Read More “CNAME for MailChimp” »

Hello. I’ve been using no-ip.com as my DNS provider for years now. A webhosting service, Carrd, just notified users that they are retiring their current DNS setup in March, and that they require users to update their DNS settings. (Yeah, makes sense.) Anyway, currently they only require us to use one or two A records, … Read More “Help with adding CNAME records via TXT” »

I have never set up a dns server before, and I’m not sure I need to set one up to accomplish my goal. My goal is to actively deny/allow ip addresses access to my dns server, or to a dns server. For example, Ip address abc wants to access www.example.com. I need to check a … Read More “**NOOB** I want to set up rules for IP addresses that can access a dns server. Where do I begin?” »
