Hey guys! I’ve worked in the field of software development and linux administration for nearly a decade now. My career has pretty much been a steady dig downward into the tech stack from front end web dev down through backend apps, databases, OS configuration and administration, and now I’ve found myself on an infrastructure team … Read More “What advice would you give someone looking to become a “DNS expert”?” »

Whenever I go into my Google Domain settings to set custom DNS in order to link my WordPress site, I lose access to the Gmail I’ve got set up through that domain. Whenever I revert back to the suggested DNS, my wordpress site unlinks. Is there any workaround this without having to get a third … Read More “Integrating WordPress into Google Domain troubleshooting” »

I’m experiencing an occasional issue where one of my Windows 2019 DNS servers gives the “Request timed out” message for all external (non-authoritative) requests – internal requests resolve fine. I do have Forwarders configured for our downstream ISP and I also noticed that the Primary DNS server on this DNS servers client settings is its … Read More “Windows DNS server “request timed out” for “external” requests” »

Set a G Workspace rule for “All Prefixes to domain are welcome”. Do I have to set an MX Record with my domain host (not G) as I remember having done so for this case many years ago?

I remember having set many years ago a specific MX record to let these pass, something like *.domain.com. Is this still needed (aditionally to the G Workspace setting) and do I have the correct syntax for the record in mind? submitted by /u/graudesch [link] [comments] Powered by WPeMatico

How can I make a child zone on Oracle Cloud with DNSSEC , which it apparently doesn’t support?

A few years ago I moved my domains that supports DNSSEC for .co.uk domains when I realised that Google Cloud Platform supported DNSSEC and SSHFP records. That worked fine on GCP. Now I am doing a lot of work with Oracle Cloud. According to their DNS FAQ, DNSSEC is not supported. However, their DNS hosting … Read More “How can I make a child zone on Oracle Cloud with DNSSEC , which it apparently doesn’t support?” »

Hi there, I’m trying to set up dns record to link to my website in OVH provider. I made an A record to point to the website’s IP (installed on an ovh vps). I need to redirect a website (e.g. abc.com) to another website (e.g. xyz.com). I was wondering how I should configure the DNS records for abc.com to do that. Since this domain name provider does not have a URL redirect record type, I was wondering what to put for record type. Do I need to create … Read More “Website Redirect” »

dnscheck.tools is great for identifying the dns resolvers used by your browser, but what if you wanted to check your system-wide resolvers? dnscheck.tools is now curl-friendly! Check out curl https://dnscheck.tools and curl -L https://dnscheck.tools/watch The tool responds differently based on the user-agent header. If there are more tools like curl that should get similar treatment, … Read More “Live life on the command line? Now dnscheck.tools works for you, too!” »

New to Infoblox, but not to DNS. I’m looking for a good recommendation for training material other than Infoblox-paid. Can be someone’s blog, a book, set of videos, etc… submitted by /u/pshMike [link] [comments] Powered by WPeMatico
