With unbound, is there a way to ensure a specific domain is always loaded/cached locally?

I want to ensure that a list of domains of API endpoints that are called randomly and sometimes infrequently are always cached locally to minimize response time in a server application. Is there a way with unbound that I can make it so unbound automatically re-fetches api1.example1.com and api2.example2.com before their TTL (time-to-live) expires within … Read More “With unbound, is there a way to ensure a specific domain is always loaded/cached locally?” »

Basically, I don’t get the difference between the two as they seem to be doing the same thing as shown in these pictures I added (image pic links – from Google). Hi all I have a weird problem with one of my domains which drives me nuts. The website is working for 99% for my clients worldwide, but some users from Switzerland with the Provider Swisscom can’t access my website at all. The domain likeometer.co is not working for them, but likeometer.ch is – it’s the … Read More “Domain ends in ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT, no idea why” »

I have Xhospitality.co.in and Xhospitality.in with Godaddy. Yesterday in a fit of stupidity i changed the nameservers on BOTH to hostinger and hosted a brand new templatized website. Previously @Xhospitality.co.in email was redirecting to google mail accounts. Due to the change of nameserver to Hostinger, the email stopped redirecting to Gmail So —> I … Read More “.co.in & .in sites with GoDaddy” »

Why is the www subdomain a common standard?

Since I’m learning about how DNS and other web stuff works currently, I’m interested to know why www is a common standard subdomain for websites. For example, if you were to go to apple.com, it would redirect to www.apple.com. What’s the point of this? I also apparently made the mistake of doing this backwards where … Read More “Why is the www subdomain a common standard?” »

when I drop the www from my domain -it does not work… CNAME record?

I’m going to try and anonymise this if possible, but I’ve got a dynamic DNS service running for my ASUS home router – since my ISP assigns me a dynamic IP. Let’s called the dynamicDNS service: test.asuscomm.com Now I’ve registered a domain, let’s call it, example.co.uk and the DNS records are as such that it … Read More “when I drop the www from my domain -it does not work… CNAME record?” »

Hidden Master SOA

Hey everyone I was reading a few notes on SOA and I’m stuck in my understanding. Originally I’ve always set the MNAME to the master, because my understanding is that it would trigger all the notify and transfer mechanisms. The slaves will check master for serials, refresh etc. https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc6781#section-4.4 The SOA fields REFRESH, RETRY, and … Read More “Hidden Master SOA” »
