OpenDNS has “web content filtering” that is very useful. It has categories such as “academic fraud”, “adware”, etc. How can one find what websites are included in each category? submitted by /u/DistinctMatter1 [link] [comments] Powered by WPeMatico

First of all, my apologies in advance for rambling through this question with only a basic understanding of DNS. I have a DNS issue with a work project, but I don’t manage DNS resources, so I don’t really understand what’s going on. I just need enough info to be able to request the correct setup … Read More “Internal resources don’t resolve external subdomain” »

Hi /r/dns! 🙂 Our startup uses simply.com for E-mail, and so far I have set up pop3 and IMAP connections to receive my E-mail. Now I want to switch to a full suite – like office365 – but my co-founders don’t have the same need. Assuming that only my E-mail is set up at the … Read More “Assuming that I have an Office365 instance with only my mail setup, will adding the MX record for office365 (At higher priority than the existing record) stop the others on my domain from receiving their E-mails?” »

Hello, Fellow mere mortal here, I heard if you use ECS DNS you get faster internet and less buffers. I tried to lookup online but it seems there is not much info on it. The only ECS servers is Quad9 and NextDNS has it implemented somehow. If this makes internet faster why is it not … Read More “Do I want to use ECS?” »

Does quad nine or quad one throttle requests?

I’m running a homelab with ~20 Linux based nodes, and a pihole that forwards the DNS requests for them through a pihole. On the pihole, I get a significant amount of “N/A” or “NODATA” from the forwarded DNS’s ‘1.1.1.1‘ and ‘9.9.9.9‘ (read: mostly). On my workhorse laptop, that is connected through a VPN, I have … Read More “Does quad nine or quad one throttle requests?” »

I usually use http://www.whatsmydnsserver.com/ to check my DNS. When I use ONLY Google DNS in Network adapter settings, the above website works and shows Google as the owner as expected. When I use ONLY Cloudflare WARP app on Windows, the website shows Cloudflare owner as expected. BUT When I use BOTH Google DNS in network … Read More “What happens when I use Google DNS in the Network adapter settings and at the same use Cloudflare WARP app on Windows 10? Which is resolved?” »
